Brno in TOP 100 Europe’s most popular conference destinations

The annual worldwide ranking of the most popular conference destinations is compiled by International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

City of Brno was for the first time ranked in the TOP 100 Europe’s most popular conference cities according to the number of association meetings held. In 2015, Brno was ranked 97th in the european ranking (143rd in 2014) with 15 association meetings, which means their number are doubled compared to 2014. In the worldwide rating Brno was ranked 175th (289th in 2014). This success ranked Brno among cities such as Düsseldorf, Maastricht or Philadelphia.

Brno hosted 3,217 delegates, which means the average number of 214 delegates per meeting. Average length of the meetings excceded 4 days and the most popular venues used for meetings were universities (5 meetings) and hotels (5 meetings).

The biggest congress organised in Brno in 2015 was 15th European Congress on Clinical Neuro­physiology (ECCN) with 600 delegates.

In 2016 Brno is hosting other meetings registered by ICCA, for instance: LibreOffice Conference 2016, 13th Biennial Conference on High-Resolution X-Ray Diffraction and Imaging or 15th International Symposium on High Pressure Low Temperature Plasma Chemistry (HAKONE 15).

Czech Republic was ranked 25th in the worldwide rating and it is15th most popular destination within Europe. In 2015, Czech Republic hosted 154 meetings, which is and increase of 5% compared to 2014.

TOP City and Country rankings

Berlin is new number one among cities, followed by Paris and Barcelona. USA is retaining top ranking country, Germany is second and the third place went to United Kingdom.

The ICCA Statistics Reports are based on the ICCA Association Database, which means the figures cover meetings organised by international associations which:

1. take place on a regular basis

2. rotate between a minimum of three countries

3. have at least 50 participants
